Many high school students experience academic procrastination, which may be associated with excessive engagement in online games. This study aimed to examine the relationship between online game addiction and academic procrastination among high school students at Institut Indonesia Semarang. The hypothesis proposed a strong positive relationship between online game addiction and academic procrastination. This study employed a quantitative correlational approach involving 85 eleventh-grade students selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires measuring online game addiction and academic procrastination and were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Pearson Product-Moment correlation test with the assistance of SPSS 26. The results showed a strong positive relationship between online game addiction and academic procrastination (r = 0.557; p < 0.001). The coefficient of determination indicated that online game addiction contributed 31% to the variance in academic procrastination, while the remaining 69% was influenced by other factors not examined in this study. These findings indicate that higher levels of online game addiction are associated with higher levels of academic procrastination among high school students. The findings provide valuable information for guidance and counseling teachers and subject teachers in developing preventive and intervention programs related to online game addiction to support students in reducing academic procrastination and improving their responsibility in academic activities.
