Perbedaan Perilaku Doomscrolling Pada Mahasiswa Rantau dan Non-rantau di Yogyakarta

Abstract

This study employed a comparative quantitative method. The objectives of this research were to determine: (1) the differences in doomscrolling behavior between migrant and non-migrant students in Yogyakarta, (2) the level of doomscrolling behavior among migrant students in Yogyakarta, and (3) the level of doomscrolling behavior among non-migrant students in Yogyakarta. The participants of this study were migrant and non-migrant students currently enrolled in universities in Yogyakarta, aged between 18–29 years. The total number of participants was 212. The instrument used in this study was a doomscrolling behavior scale consisting of 27 items. The reliability of the scale was categorized as high, with a coefficient of 0.886. Since the assumptions of normality and homogeneity were not met, a non-parametric independent t-test, namely the Mann-Whitney U Test, was used. The results of the data analysis showed that: (1) there is a significant difference in doomscrolling behavior between migrant and non-migrant students (p < 0.05). The doomscrolling behavior of migrant students was higher than that of non-migrant students, with mean scores of 79.22 and 73.63, respectively. (2) The majority of migrant students' doomscrolling behavior fell into the moderate category (54%). (3) The majority of non-migrant students' doomscrolling behavior also fell into the moderate category (49%).
