Pengaruh Intervensi Edukasi Terhadap Kepatuhan Minum Obat Pada Pasien Hipertensi di Puskesmas Muara Burnai, Indonesia

Abstract

Hypertension remains one of the most prominent public health issues in Indonesia. As a chronic disease, hypertension requires long-term monitoring and treatment. The key to successful hypertension management lies in medication adherence. However, this remains a challenge for patients receiving care at primary health care facilities. This study aimed to determine the effect of education on medication adherence among hypertensive patients at Muara Burnai Primary Health Center (Puskesmas), Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. This study employed a quantitative approach with a pre-post test design. The subjects were 70 hypertensive patients who met the inclusion criteria. The intervention consisted of leaflets and individual counseling. Medication adherence was measured using a questionnaire. Following the educational intervention, the results showed that medication adherence education was effective in improving adherence among hypertensive patients at Muara Burnai Primary Health Center. As a follow-up, education should be continued and tailored to patients' characteristics in order to sustain these results.
